Spatial frequency bands used by patients with glaucoma to recognize facial expressions

چکیده
The authors investigated the influence of spatial frequencies in foveal vision glaucomatous patients a recognition task facial expressions. Nineteen patients, 16 age-matched and 14 young controls saw centrally presented photographs faces. Participants categorized expressions as happy, angry or neutral. Two versions were tested: filtered faces either low (LSF) high (HSF) frequency content hybrid constructed from face with LSF superimposed on HSF differing Compared to significant deficit was observed both for patients. Controls, but not biased towards component Different are normally used recognize different Impaired processing bandwidth due an ocular pathology can therefore lead misinterpretation emotions, impact social interactions.

LIFEisGAME:A Facial Character Animation System to Help Recognize Facial Expressions
This article presents the LIFEisGAME project, a serious game that will help children with ASDs to recognize and express emotions through facial expressions. The game design tackles one of the main experiential learning cycle of emotion recognition: recognize and mimic (game mode: build a face). We describe the technology behind the game, which focus on a character animation pipeline and a sketc...
متن کاملSpatial frequency bandwidth used in the recognition of facial images
The purpose of the study was to find out what spatial frequency information human observers use in the recognition of face images. Signal-to-noise ratio thresholds for the recognition of facial images were measured as a function of the centre spatial frequency of narrow-band additive spatial noise. The relative sensitivity of recognition to different spatial frequencies was derived from these r...
متن کاملPerception and Emotion How We Recognize Facial Expressions
Perception and emotion interact, as is borne out by studies of how people recognize emotion from facial expressions. Psychological and neurological research has elucidated the processes, and the brain structures, that participate in facial emotion recognition. Studies have shown that emotional reactions to viewing faces can be very rapid and that these reactions may, in turn, be used to judge t...
متن کاملSchizophrenic patients show facial reactions to emotional facial expressions.
Facial reactions in schizophrenic patients were assessed via electromyography (EMG) in response to pictures of facial expressions. Male patients and nonpatient controls viewed photographs of positive and negative facial expressions while EMG activity from the corrugator and zygomatic muscle regions was recorded. Both schizophrenic patients and controls exhibited greater zygomatic reactivity in ...
متن کاملFacial mimicry is not necessary to recognize emotion: Facial expression recognition by people with Moebius syndrome.
According to the reverse simulation model of embodied simulation theory, we recognize others' emotions by subtly mimicking their expressions, which allows us to feel the corresponding emotion through facial feedback. Previous studies examining whether facial mimicry is necessary for facial expression recognition were limited by potentially distracting manipulations intended to artificially rest...
